So many Hats

At least once a week me and my husband have a “discussion” about how as a women I am expected to be super women and be everything to everybody. I say you know it feels like I have to wear so many hats. The wife, the mommy, the career women, the daughter the list goes on. That’s why when I got the opportunity to shoot with a well know Houston Lifestyle and Advertising photographer Terry Halsey for a lifestyle shoot I was super excited. For the shoot I got the opportunity to choose my own theme and location,┬áso I chose to go with the women that can handle it all! She is the wife, the mommy, and the hard worker, that manages to handle everything thrown at her while also making time to follow her own dreams and aspirations. She is the foundation of her family that holds everyone up; and no she may not be perfect or get it right every time but she remains strong and resilient. The location I chose was a Houston staple in regard to photography the Sugar and Cloth Color Wall located 3302 Canal st. in Houston, TX. For the shoot I was asked to choose three different outfits that showed my personal style as well as fit the theme. Through my outfits I decided to show The Life of a Wife, The Life of a Mommy and the Life of a Momtrepreneur. For the life of a Wife I went with this two piece Lemon skirt and crop top from Rue 107 that just screamed retro housewife. The idea was for me to be holding a freshly baked cake but when we opened the box on set the cake had fallen and looked like a hot mess! Luckily my girl and blogger boo from Lipstick and Brunch was on set and came up with the idea to just roll with the cake in its current state. I loved it because it showed exactly what I stated earlier we may not always get it right but we always get it done! And let’s face it I’m not much of a baker anyway so the cake being messed up was more true to reality. The next look I chose was a denim on denim look for my daughter and I. My daughters entire look came from Target and my look was incorporated jeans from Asos Curve and a denim shirt from Old Navy. My daughter is three and she watches everything I do from taking pictures for my blog to watching me put on my makeup. So the mommy and me aspect of this shoot was perfect. The last look was my Momtrepreneur look. For this look I went with a white Peplum top from Forever21, green slacks from Eloquii, and a white vest from Society Plus.

  1. The pictures are really nice and that’s great you’re able to have it all. Mom’s should be recognized for their dedication and hard work.
